This framed vintage painting of sailboats appears to be from the 1960s or 1970s.  The color palette of this semi abstract rendition of sailboats includes yellow, ochre, orange, rust and a range of beige, tan, and brown --- with touches of white --- and also some gray at the bottom.

In this original painting on canvas, there appear to be birds flying in the sky at the upper left.  It verges on being an abstract color study.  When looking at the photos of the painting, note the artist’s use of texture and impasto.

It is still in its original frame --- featuring a linen mat, a gold inner liner, and an outer dark wood frame with gold/brass color trim along the front edge.  The part of the framing that is covered in linen is stamped HECHO EN MEXICO on the back.

The canvas is on a wood stretcher --- which measures 8” x 10”.  The frame is under 14” x under 16” x 1 ¾”.  The frame window is about 7 ½” x 9 ½”.  We have always displayed it on a shelf leaning against the wall.  If you want to hang it, you will need to wire it.

The painting’s surface is in good condition --- since it is set back within the frame.  The frame itself shows evidence of handling and wear over the decades --- there are some rubs/scratches/wear.  From age, there is some discoloration on the linen liner.
