Vintage Daffodils Jonquils American Batik Art Tibby Llewellyn Savannah Georgia 1981
This beautiful and elegant original batik art on silk shantung was created in 1981 by Tibby Llewellyn of Savannah, Georgia.
Through the use of only white and shades of yellow, the artist features two daffodils (the flowers and their stems and leaves). Her signature - Tibby - is included in the batik at the lower right.
The pale beige / cream mat and the silk art look different in various lighting conditions. The yellow sometimes appears more pale and faint --- and in brighter light it is a more dramatic and vibrant yellow. In some lighting the mat looks like a pale pink / blush cream color.
There is no glass. You can get glass for it, or display it "as is". If the mat and the gold metal frame do not work in your decor, you can replace them. If you look very closely, there are some faint small marks and dings on the mat --- but if hung on the wall or displayed on a table top small easel, you do not notice them. If you also look very closely at the gold metal frame, you can find some small rubs marks and scratches from 37 years of handling.
The frame is approximately 10 1/4" x 12 1/8" (and over 3/4" deep). The mat opening is approximately 4 7/8" x 6 3/4".
The artist's business card is on the back:

On the back of this framed original batik art, the artist wrote (just under her business card) ----
