Cow Pillow American Primitive Folk Art numbers hearts signed JB dated 1994
This American folk art primitive was done by an artist in 1994. It is signed JB; we have not yet identified the artist. The artist has combined stencil art, hand painting, hand drawing, and staining / antiquing of the fabric.
The center panel is surrounded by fabric borders of a small blue and beige check / gingham. COW surrounded by hearts is stenciled along the top. A checkerboard pattern is stenciled on the bottom border. Numbers (1 through 7) and hearts are stenciled on the sides. On the center panel, a black marker/pen was used for the numbers, some of the details on the cow and for the artist’s initials and the 94 date.
The artist has also stained / antiqued the beige fabric used for the back of the pillow.
The pillow is about 16” x 13” when measured along the edges. It is over 5” thick in the center. There is no zipper; if you ever need to take out the pillow stuffing there is a section along the bottom seam where it would be easy to undo it.
It is in very good condition and is ready to be a charming accent in a country or primitive décor. If you like cows, hearts, checkerboards, etc. ….. this wonderful and functional American primitive art / craft is just for you!
