Antique Walnut Round Dining Table with great legs
This beautiful antique solid walnut round dining table is perfect for your kitchen or dining room. It could also be a fabulous desk or a display surface in a family room or great room.
This 19th century round table is actually a dining or banquet table minus the leaves. It looks like the two half circle ends were joined (small rectangular metal plate on the underside) many years ago to create a round table. The wood table slides underneath indicate that this table could have once been extended to a much larger size (with leaves inserted). The table appears just as we purchased it years ago; there were no leaves with it. As you can see in the photos, the legs have their original casters.
We have always collected 19th century walnut tables. Our purchasing decisions are based on the the grain character of the wood and on both the overall design and the details (which often means .... does it have beautiful legs?). Each of the two large semi-circular halves was created from a single walnut board. The patterning (grain) of the wood is beautiful. We especially like the great legs of this table!
We have used it "as is", but if you want to conceal the scratches/rubs/wear, etc. that were on it when we bought it years ago, you can use lemon oil or Old English scratch oil (let us know if you need advice on using these products).
This is being offered for sale as a LOCAL PICK UP ONLY item. If you are not in the Washington, D.C. area, you can, of course, still purchase it and hire a delivery / moving service to transport it.
The table is approximately 42” across measured along the center line. Measured in the other direction it is about 41” (each of the two half circles is about 20 1/2”). Each of the halves is made from a single board!
The inside width between the legs (just below the 4 3/4” skirt) is between 23 1/2” and 23 3/4”.
From the floor to the top surface (including the casters) it is 30”.
