Hog Pig Portrait American Folk Art Painting signed
Artist J Bonner has painted this pig portrait on a piece of weathered old wood. The alert hog is looking straight at us over the top of a fence. Over many years, we have owned several American folk art paintings of swine, but this is one of only a few in which the animal looks directly at the us (the viewer).
This is a very alert and engaging pig at the center of this semi-circular wood panel. His eyes (with large pupils and yellow irises) are wide open. We are virtually face to face with his snout and nostrils. His raised ears and his front feet (the cloven hooves holding on to the top of the fence).
This anthropomorphic swine has just popped up above the fence to check things out and perhaps have a chat.
This original American folk art painting is not dated. The re-purposed wood is obviously older than the painting. Our best guess for the porcine painting would be sometime since the 1970s or 80s.
We have not yet identified the artist. The signature at the bottom right corner appears to be J Bonner. There are several artists with that first initial and last name who are possibilities.
The curved wood panel is 13 5/8" x 7 1/2" x 1/2”. It can be hung from the wire looped around a nail on the back.
The price includes free USPS Priority shipping to addresses in the U.S.
