Vintage Vivacious Violet Purple Flowers Irises Tulips Still Life Original Painting -- signed --unframed

This unique vintage painting on canvas is a glorious vision in violet and purple.  The violet tulips and purple irises are arranged with some branches with white flowers.  There are touches of yellow paint within the profusion of purple and white flowers.  The flowers are in a pottery vase on a curvy round dark table (with a scalloped wire gallery).  A large violet colored fabric is dramatically draped around the table.  The background is a variegated green.  The artist’s signature is near the bottom of the right edge ---- and appears to be Sullivan.

This 20^th century original painting on canvas is unframed.  It has a wire on the back for hanging ----- and we have hung it “frameless” for many years.

In spite of a fairly thick paint surface, it is in relatively good condition.  If you look very closely, you can see some cracking / alligatoring in areas of the paint surface --- and there are some tiny spots of paint loss (most are along or near the edges and corners). 

If you want a vivid vintage floral still life painting that is dramatic and different from the usual, this study in violet / purple / white and green might just be the one for you!  We have only found a few very interesting purple flower paintings over the years, and this is one of our favorites.

The size is approximately 15” x 23”.  The canvas is stapled to the wood stretcher frame.  On the back of the canvas  16”   24    is written in pencil.  One of the vertical stretchers has the manufacturer’s information stamped on it     Fredrix   23.
